Vocational Education and Training (VE & T)
The West Bengal State Council of Vocational Education (WSCVE & T) was established by the Govt. of West Bengal in the month of May 2005 with an aim to promote and guide the vocational training and education programme in the right direction in our State. The Council, a statutory body under the Govt. of West Bengal, is now functioning from the newly built Kolkata Karigori Bhavan at 110, S.N.Banerjee Road, Kolkata - 13.
The Vocational Education & Training courses offered so far by the WSCVE & T are meant for two separate categories. The details of the categories are tabulated below.

6-months short term Vocational Training Courses for the VIII+ standard are as follows :
1. Different training courses on Engineering and Technology
2. Different training courses on Agriculture
3. Different training courses on Home Science
4 Different training courses on Business and Commerce
5. Different training courses on para-medical
The West Bengal State Council of Vocational Education has decided to promote these Vocational Education and training courses in West Bengal through different Polytechnics, I.T.Is, I.T.Cs, Engineering Colleges, Degree Colleges, Higher Secondary and Madhyamik level Schools and N.G.Os.
For the District of Jalpaiguri, the Council as the Nodal Centre for the Vocational Education and training programme has chosen Jalpaiguri Polytechnic Institute.
